This is from The Message, and it turned my life around one time when I had a real need to see my life could really trust God because I was Godās story….always Ā very important lesson. Ā Pam
āTrusting God
āSo how do we fit what we know of Abraham, our first father in the faith, into this new way of looking at things? If Abraham, by what he did for God, got God to approve him, he could certainly have taken credit for it. But the story weāre given is a Godāstory, not an Abrahamāstory.
āWhat we read in Scripture is, āAbraham entered into what God was doing for him, and that was the turning point. He trusted God to set him right instead of trying to be right on his own.ā
āIf youāre a hard worker and do a good job, you deserve your pay; we donāt call your wages a gift. But if you see that the job is too big for you, that itās something only God can do, and you trust him to do itāyou could never do it for yourself no matter how hard and long you workedāwell, that trustingāhimātoādoāit is what gets you set right with God, by God. Sheer gift.
āAbraham didnāt focus on his own impotence and say, āItās hopeless. This hundredāyearāold body could never father a child.ā Nor did he survey Sarahās decades of infertility and give up. He didnāt tiptoe around Godās promise asking cautiously skeptical questions. He plunged into the promise and came up strong, ready for God, sure that God would make good on what he had said. Thatās why it is said, āAbraham was declared fit before God by trusting God to set him right.ā
āBut itās not just Abraham; Ā itās also us! The same thing gets said about us when we embrace and believe the One who brought Jesus to life when the conditions were equally hopeless. The sacrificed Jesus made us fit for God, set us right with God.ā
Romans 4:19-25 | MSG
I really love that idea that itās Godās story – not mine. Thanks Pam!
Thank you, Pam. A wonderful way to start the week!
Thank you for this wonderful insight on letting God Be the story of our life. God does it all. What a great story to stand by and learn to trust His plan for us, which can only be all good.
Thanks all! Itās most encouraging when we really stand back and allow God to be our life. ( it is true already, so why not embrace the idea!)
And in Malachi Godās promise continues, āI will open you the windows of heaven and pour you out a blessing there shall not be room enoigh to receive it.ā
Isnāt the real question, then, Are we ready and willing to be Godās and to receive the blessings?
I love your Abraham insight. Shifting to the bigger from a small place opens things up for Good š
